austingenderweird.info was created on 2009 February 16 and is currently under active development. This is a new website to facilitate the creation of a community of people who identify as a gender other than man or woman, and for those who love them.
This community is not currently connected to the Austin transgendered communities, but might be one day. This community might even be subsumed into the Austin transgendered community. However, the domain is registered for two years and I am committed to maintaining it until then.
Technologically, I do not yet know what is going to be here. I will try to have something basic, but the real work is going to happen when I have more people to provide feedback.
This is a young community consisting currently of myself. I have several activities planned for the next week to kickstart this into a larger group. I am afraid of the reception. I want to delight people and provide a new safe place for expression. I am afraid of angering and offending people.
This is an irrational fear. I know this. I will anger and offend someone, no matter how hard I try to please everyone.
I imagine that the first, maybe the most common, gatherings of this group will be in coffee shops or other small, semi-intimate venues where conversation is the most common invisible menu item.
